United Nations (UN) target by 2030 everyone should have access to modern energy services and this will substantially increase energy efficiency. This was contained in the latest report issued by the Secretary-General Advisory Group (Secretary General) Ban Ki-moon on Energy and Climate Change (AGECC) recently, was quoted Risoe National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark.
In a recent report that, AGECC stressed the needs to improve access to clean energy more than 2 million people who currently live without access to modern energy services.
“Access to a more sustainable energy and improving energy efficiency is a prerequisite for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs),” said AGECC.
The new report provides an analysis of problems and recommendations for the international community, particularly on how to set goals to increase access to energy.
According to the report, lack of access to modern energy is a significant barrier to economic development. Currently, more than 1.6 million people worldwide have no access to electricity and nearly 1 million people depend on wood and other fuels for energy supply in cooking and heating.
“Energy supply more reliable and affordable is the key to economic growth and eradication of poverty in the world,” stated the report.
